Living Life Like Its…Golden

Do you???   Live YOUR life like it’s Golden?

Brides, sometimes, may not. This post is to encourage you to be yourself. While a wedding is not just about the bride and groom, it is foundationally about the bride and groom. I never advocate a couple instituting a practice or creating a space that is inconsiderate of their guests. However, when it comes to your style and innermost wedding day wishes, make sure to put them in the forefront as you plan. If you’re not used to expressing yourself, take a little time to do some soul searching. Dig down deep and find out what is truly important to you. For you and your groom, what makes your hearts sing? Don’t have someone else’s wedding. Have your own.

Listen to your parents. Think about your friends. Be considerate of your guests. However, don’t lose yourself in the process. Take your freedom and pull it off that shelf. (Thanks, Jill!)

As I developed the design for this style shoot, that was my number one motivation. What makes my heart sing? I chose the things that resonated with me. If it did not, I put it back. I appreciate many different designs and colors, but this time, gold spoke to me, so that is the path that I followed. Every time I looked at the “golden-ness”, I smiled! That is what I wish for you. Pick what makes your heart smile…and sing!

It all started when I saw metal piece at Home Depot. It peaked my interest and eventually sparked a desire to go for the gold! Some time later, I saw those napkin rings at a Goodwill. They weren’t sold as napkin rings. They were oval metal rings in a couple of bags. I had no idea what I wanted to do with them, but I bought them because they were interesting. After a couple of coats of spray paint to freshen them up, they became napkin rings.

Monochromatic = My heart!

Goodwill + Just the Right Gold Spray Paint (Design Master) = Happiness

Another focus of this shoot was to reuse, renew and restore, which, of course, made my heart sing.

Mixing and matching the choice items from super vendors come together nicely. The gold-rimmed table setting, ivory linen and gold napkins are compliments of lovely Liberty Party Rental. The sweet fluffy floral linen overlay are brought to you by the awesome Graceful Tables! For the backdrop, the gracious Visual Elements provided the ivory draping.

To switch things up a bit, I used this “Sydney” linen from Graceful Tables. It gave me a very traditional pattern and worked well with the candelabra. (Stay tuned for those candelabra.) My “napkin rings” turned into an ideal place to display the classic, incomparable vendela ivory rose. They are classic for a reason, never going out of style.

I met her, by the way…Jill Scott, the beautifully-voiced lady who reminded and encouraged us to live our own lives, to be free to be ourselves. The moment itself was a bit embarrassing, though. I didn’t realize it was her until I reached out to welcome her (as a first-time visitor) and I was starstruck. Despite my awkwardness, she was gracious and lovely. Reminiscing on that moment, Jill Scott acted like a woman who knows how to live life like it’s Golden. With that in mind, let’s make it an everyday practice.

Jill said it well…

“I’m holding on to my freedom
Can’t take it from me
I was born into it and it comes naturally
I’m strumming my own freedom
Playing the God in me
Representing His glory
Hope He’s proud of me, yeah”

As you sing along, share your freedom in a comment below. What have been some of your most ‘Golden’ moments in planning your wedding day?  In what ways have you struggled to be freely ‘Golden’?

Special thanks to my Awesome vendors!
